About MySunROI
MySunROI is an independent educational site for US homeowners who want clear solar panel cost and payback math before talking to installers. We publish free calculators and carefully scoped state and metro guides using public NREL and EIA data — not sales scripts and not a directory of scraped dealer pages.
Install quotes vary widely by roof, utility, labor market, and financing. Our job is to make the order of magnitude understandable: system price bands, the 30% federal ITC as an orientation (not tax advice), rough payback, and the assumptions behind each number. We do not sell solar installations, arrange financing, or provide tax or legal advice.
How we work
Every estimate starts from published benchmarks (NREL photovoltaic cost ranges, EIA residential electricity rates) plus regional modifiers for labor and permitting. Calculators expose inputs so you can change system size, rate, and sun hours instead of trusting a single locked figure. State and metro articles add local context where we have hand-written copy; thin template URLs are kept out of the sitemap and marked noindex so they do not compete with stronger pages.
We intentionally publish fewer, deeper pages rather than hundreds of near-duplicate city or topic doorways. If a page cannot explain a real cost decision in plain language, it does not belong in the index.
What we prioritize
- Interactive cost and ROI tools with labeled assumptions and worked examples
- State hubs plus a limited set of hand-written metro guides — not mass-produced doorway farms
- Incentive and payback explainers with links to primary sources
- Transparent methodology, editorial review, and a public contact channel for corrections
Our data
Estimates combine NREL photovoltaic cost benchmarks, EIA electricity rates, and regional pricing modifiers. See our data sources and editorial policy for how numbers are assembled and when we update them. Last site-wide content refresh: 2026-07-15.
Ranges are educational. Your installer quote, utility interconnection rules, and tax situation can move the result up or down. Always verify incentives with official program pages and a qualified tax professional where needed.
Editorial team
MySunROI Research Team — Solar cost research & data analysis. Content reviewed against NREL benchmarks, EIA rates, and our editorial policy. Not financial or installation advice. We do not invent personal “expert” personas; corrections and methodology questions go to the editorial inbox.
Advertising & partnerships
The site may display Google AdSense ads and occasional lead-generation offers (for example, quote requests). Ads and partner CTAs do not change calculator math or editorial conclusions. Details: Advertising disclosure.
